Statement of Faith

The following is a summarized statement of faith for Story Book Lodge.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original documents, and the only infallible rule of authority in all matters of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, Heb 4:12, 2 Pet 1:20-21)

There is one living and true God, eternally existent in three Persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each equally deserving worship and obedience. (Deut 6:4, Matt 28:19, 2 Cor 13:14)

In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is true God and true man begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and that He has a perfect and sinless humanity. (Matt 1:23-25, John 1:1, Phil 2:6, 1 John 3:5)

In the total depravity of the nature of man through his fall in the Garden of Eden, and the absolute inability of man to save himself from eternal punishment by his own works. (Gen 3, Rom 3:23, Eph 2:8,9)

In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (1 Thes 4:17, Rev 20:11-15)

In the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary, through which sacrifice Christ has effected complete and eternal redemption, God setting His seal of approval on the work of Christ by raising Him from among the dead, enthroned Him at His own right hand in heaven and that He is the Head of the Church, the Lord of the individual, and High Priest over the House of God and Advocate in the family of God. (John 10:15, Rom 3:24, 24, 5:8, Col 1:15-18, 1 Pet 2:24)

In the immediate and eternal salvation of every person who truly believes on Christ and by faith rests on His finished work as the only righteous ground on which a Holy God can forgive sins. (Rom 3:23, 6:23, 1 John 1:8)

We believe every true child of God is indwelt, and sealed with the Holy Spirit and is safe and secure for all eternity. (John 10:27-29, Rom 8:9-30, Phil 1:6, 2 Tim 1:12, Heb 12:5-11)

That the early church met together and “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine, and fellowship and in breaking of bread, and in prayer” (Acts 2:42) -God’s pattern for the Church today.

We believe Christ gave gifts to men. These gifts are for the edification of the believers to be equipped to serve the Lord. We believe that some gifts were foundational, and that some miraculous gifts, such as healing and tongues, were sign gifts given primarily for the Nation of Israel during the transitional period as the Church was being established. (Rom 12:3-8, 1 Cor 12:4-13, Eph 4:11, 1 Pet 4:10-11)

We believe and observe in simplicity the two ordinances left by the Lord Jesus Christ for His people: (a) Baptism by immersion for all true believers in Christ and (b) The Lord’s Supper which is celebrated every Lord’s Day. (Luke 22:19-21, Acts 2:38-42, Acts 8:36-39, Rom 6:1-11, 1 Cor 11:23-32)

In the personal, imminent, and pre-millennial coming of the Lord to the air to rapture (catch up) the Church. (1 Thess 4:13-17)

In the revelation of Christ in glory at His Second Advent to each to establish His Kingdom on earth and to reign in righteousness. (Phil 2:9-11, 2 Thess 1:6-10)
